[WOLK-devel] WOLK5 for 2.4.26?

Hi all,

ok, to make it short: I'm disposed to cook up a new WOLK for 2.4.26 or 2.4.27
when the following conditions are met:

1. Anyone starts to create a website where we can print all the info's about
wolk, why wolk, why maybe not, bla bla foobar.

2. When I have to merge XYZ, I need some people who are doing it within a few
days. NOT just saying doing so, instead do it for real, within <= 3 days
max.

If there will be real help, I'll offer for example all the broken-out patches
of current 2.4-WOLK for sure also of the maybe upcoming next 2.4-WOLK, based
on a brand new 2.4 mainline kernel.

Just FYI: If you ever wondered why I ask for help, it's not that I do not
understand something nor I cannot do it all by myself nor anything in that
direction. No, it's basically lack of time. Cooking up a -ck, an -lck, an
- -bsd or whatever you think of is, to be real, kindergarten, peanuts, child
birthday party or whatever may imply it's trivial :p

Basically I want to do the following stuff in/out:

1. NO rmap, therefore fixing the mainline VM which is b0rked.
2. O(1) Scheduler
3. grsecurity2
4. uml-skas3
5. vservers brand new version whatever that will be if
anyone will ever know that :p
6. LVM2/EVMS/DM brand new code
7. IPsec backport from kernel 2.6
8. working and not-breaking-standard-iptables netfilter addons
9. <add more>

3, 4 and 5 _have_ to work together w/o any limitation. It's possible :p

Ok, so what do you think?

Sounds good.

I experience the occasional pang of guilt. :) Alas, I still can't promise
anything about reaction times. Trustees for 2.6.5 has been on my todo list
for what seems like ages, but I can't seem to get around to it these days.
In fact, I'm even considering moving away from trustees altogether to get
rid of the code maintenance burden. (Just blogging, I know nobody cares,
which is alright.)

Wow. That's a very good start.

3. grsecurity2
4. uml-skas3
This will be tricky to have at the same time. But you know that.

6. LVM2/EVMS/DM brand new code
I'd only go for LVM2 if the mirror target can also be added, otherwise
pvmove will cease to work.

I think you won't find the help you need. :( But I hope I'm wrong.

I already have it working :p ... I said it's possible, I just had to
understand the code.

Hi Marc,

You forgot DRBD, too...

Do you still need my net driver backports from 2.4.26 then?
Ok, so what do you think?

sure. Because 2.4.26 won't come up, I am quite sure, so new netdrivers in
4.15s will be nice :)

I'm glad to hear that ;-)

I can help for this point. I create website with php & mysql so it'll be
easy to code what you're requesting. If you don't have someone to do it
I'll be this guy, just contact me and gives me a little more info about
what you're expecting to see on wolk's website. But don't be to much in
a hurry because I have a work too...

Of course even if there won't be any WOLK 5 I'll happy to create this
website ;-)

For this I cannot help because I don't know C/C++, but I'll be here if
you need to test pre version (but I've only standard x86 hardware...)

COOOL! I'll cook up a mail explaining the basics of what should be on that
website.
